Episode 7 - Canada's Worst Driver - Behind the Scenes

This week the second last episode of Canada's Worst Driver aired. In this week's episode we are down to 4 people - me, Daniella, Tyler and Krystal. All of us want to graduate so we don't end up in the final three.

The challenges were the Reverse Flick - a fun stunt where you reverse the car and then get it to turn 180 degrees forward. This was a lot of fun to learn, and very challenging to do in a confined space. I was really excited to be able to do it!

We also did the know your limits challenge. Weaving in and out of foam figures in a large station wagon  at 80k is not easy. But I was super proud of myself being able to do it. Especially after the disaster in the first episode when I tried at 50k. It felt like I accomplished something and was maybe actually learning.

The cross challenge was tricky at first, but after a little help I got it faster and faster at each cross arm. My favourite challenge was the teeter totter. I remember looking at it and thinking - I can do this. And I did! I was pretty excited.

I was even more excited when I found out I graduated! It was a pretty cool moment for me. I think it was ideal, because I got all the lessons and did all the challenges, but did not have to drive in the finale. Below are some behind the scene photos and my video recap of the episode.

Next week is the final show - who will be crowned the worst? I'm going to do a video with my thoughts and answer any questions left in the comments. so if you have any questions about the show, let me know.

Weekly Update - December is Here!

This week I've been starting to get ready for the Yuletide season. It's my favourite time of year, but this year it's taken me a while to get into the mood. I think because the snow hasn't really stayed yet. We will get a little bit of snow, but then it melts right away. Usually by now the snow has come to stay. I did at least start my shopping and decorate at work and at home. It's starting to creep up on me though - its only three weeks away!

This week I was happy to receive my Leonie Dawson Shining Year workbooks and day planner for 2017. I look forward to working with them during December and planning out my goals for the year ahead. I'm glad I became aware of these as they have helped me refine my plans and keep on track throughout the year. The planner was a new addition by her last year, and she has improved it this year with a softer cover, tabs for each month, and stickers!

Also with December upon us I thought I would switch up the decks I'm using for the month.

How are your Yuletide plans going so far? Are you making plans for 2017?

New Podcast and Weekly Tarotscope

I thought I would try something new this week - a podcast! I thought rather than doing the weekly astrology weather as a blog, I would make a Sound Cloud file. It`s not your usual astrology weather for the week either. This is astrology focused on the feminine planets and asteroids. I talk about the two traditional feminine planets, the moon and Venus, but also the four major asteroids Ceres, Juno, Pallas and Vesta, the dwarf planet Eris and the minor asteroids Sappho,Lilith. Persephone. Psyche, Iris, Hekate and Fortuna. Take a listen and see what you think.

Episode 6 - Canada's Worst Driver 12 - Lou's Take

Yesterday episode 6 of Canada's Worst Driver aired. I have to say I'm super proud of Mike for graduating! He definitely deserved it after all the hard work he did. Coming back from a brain injury cannot be easy. Having to re-learn everything, including driving must be very challenging. He made amazing progress throughout the process at the re-hab centre and definitely deserved graduating. Of course that leaves four of us - including "Yours Truly", Daniella, Krystal and Tyler. Will I graduate or be in the bottom three? Am I Canada's Worst Driver? There's only two more episodes until someone is named "the worst".

Below are some photos from behind the scenes and a video with my take on the episode. Let me know what you think.

Congrats Mike on graduating!

Weekly Update - Top 10 books and New Hair

This past week I decided to change my hair back to blonde and red. I enjoyed having the rainbow hair, but felt it was time for a change and wanted to go back to the red as I was feeling like it was more "me" right now. It's more of a dark cherry/burgundy colour as I'm not big on tomato reds. Covering the warmer colours of the rainbow with red was easy, but blue and green posed a challenge being cooler colours. Especially green, as red and green are opposite colours and would turn out muddy. My stylist and I decided it would be best to cover those ones in black. I really love the effect, and am glad I went for it.

This week was a busy one, so I just uploaded a couple of videos. I am a little bit behind on the Youtube pagan challenge, and rather than catch up, and make one super long video, I thought I would focus on last week's question - top ten pagan books. Watch below, and let me know what you think of my picks.

I also was very happy to receive the new Kyle Gray  deck - Keepers of the Light on Thursday. I pre-ordered this back in March and was told it had a September release date. However in September, I did not receive the deck. I saw others were getting it, and had to make a concerted effort to not watch unboxing videos and to try to avoid it on Instagram. Finally this week after over two months of waiting I received the deck, and I have to say it was worth the wait. This deck is a nice mix of angels, ascended masters and dieties. It's very colourful and reminds me of icons with the straight on face and long noses, but in a more modern and softer style. The deck is like a warm hug, as it is very positive and sacred. Below is my unboxing video.

Let me know if you have this deck, or what your thoughts are on any of the books I mention above. And for my US friends, I hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving long weekend.

Angelic Advice - Be a Candle in Dark Times

This week so many of us are still dealing with the shocking news of Trump's victory in the US. This has not been a usual election race for the US, with Republican, vs Democrat. Instead this year there was a candidate that embodied some of the worst in humanity - racism, sexism, xenophobia, islamaphobia, homophobia and openly bragged about sexually assaulting women. Despite all this people still voted for him, and not just a minority, nearly half of those that voted!

Some people said that they didn't vote for him because of this, but because they were angry at the system. If wanting to give the middle finger to the system is more important to you than the safety and dignity of your fellow human beings, then you need to seriously reexamine your moral compass. In the few short days since the election, there have been numerous reports of racist vandalism, attacks on Muslim women and non white people. Women have been subject to threats and sexual assaults from men who say that if the president can grab women inappropriately, then so can they.

This goes to show that the words those in power speak are not just rhetoric. They have very real effects on people and their lives. The words we all speak have power and can be used to lift others up, or bring fear and pain to others. Some listen to those in power who deal in the currency of fear and division and go beyond words even to physically attack and terrorize others.

It is easy during this time to despair. I certainly felt despair and powerlessness after the first couple of days. I don't live in the US, so have no say in the process politically. Yet none of us can escape the effects of this event, as we are all tied together in this world. If I could cut the border off to the south and float away I certainly would. But even if we were able to do this, it will not change the reality of those who are being impacted by this event. I would still worry that these white supremacist attitudes will spread here as well.

So I asked myself what can I do? I was looking for a little angelic guidance, so I pulled a card from the Karma Angels deck and got Masahiah. Masasiah is the angel of harmony and happiness. He/she encourages us to look to the things that bring us joy and that spread harmony in the world. Here is a list of a few things I thought of that I can do.

1. Focus on the positive. This does not mean putting our head in the sand. What it does mean is that we look for the goodness in the world and amplify that. Let's start by remembering that the popular vote did not go to Trump. Most people in the US are as shocked and saddened as those of us in the rest of the world. Take comfort that we are not alone. Lets pray and send loving energy and thoughts to each other. Let us use positive words, be kind and encourage each other during this time. Even a small acts of kindness go a long way to making the world a better place.

2. Stay United. Remember that you are not alone. Connect with like-minded people. Surround yourself with those who are positive and kind, and who have the same values. Retreating into isolation out of despair will only serve to embolden those who pander in fear. Remember there is power in numbers.

3. Stand up. There is an excellent campaign started in Britain after the Brexit vote, as there was an increase in hate crimes. Its the simple act of wearing a safety pin. Wearing it means you are saying "you are safe with me" and that you will stand up of you see harassment occurring. If you see someone harassing someone else, say something, even if it means just talking to the victim so that the attacker loses power. Videotape or record the event when you can and report it to authorities. Stay with the victim until they can get somewhere safe.

4. Get involved. Volunteer for a cause you care about, and/or donate money towards it. There are many great organizations like the ACLU (in the US), local food banks, shelters, and environmental groups. Show up at protests, and call and email your representatives. The least you can do is vote for a candidate that represents your values. If you don't get out and vote, someone you don't like could easily get into power.

5. Make Art. Art is healing, not just for the maker, but also for the viewers as well. So make art, write, make music, dance etc. It doesn't have to be fancy high art either. In New York a man set up a table with sticky notes and pens and people wrote messages of love and support, and posted them on the subway wall for others to see. Art is a great way to come together, and to express how we feel and let each other know we are not alone. It can motivate and empower. Don't underestimate it.

Are there any other things you can think of that we can spread love and light into the world.

Canada's Worst Driver Episode 3 - Behind the Scenes

This week episode three aired featuring the Arches challenge, the Figure 8 Reversing Challenge and the dreaded Water Tank challenge. They also showed the Name the Road Signs test.

The Arches Challenge I went into expecting not to get, as the arches are so narrow there are cut outs for the mirrors. I was still proud of myself for getting at least two out of the five and for not panicking even when I got it wrong, I just kept going. Before the challenge we each had a lesson with Phillipe about looking where you want to go. He taught me to look at the open space instead of the barriers. He's a really good teacher and helps to bring out confidence in you.

After they showed the Figure 8 reversing challenge where we all piled into a van and reversed on a figure 8 course, of tire rims. I was a little miffed that they just showed the first part where I was timid and hit several things, but as i got on, I went faster and hit a lot less. They also didn't show that during the Sign test, I got 7 out of 10 right, the most of anyone.

The water tank challenge was definetly the least dignified of all the challenges. I really enjoyed watching Daniella - she was very smart leaning forward so the water didn't get in her face. I got drenched right away and the water was so cold I started to hyperventalate. Then the water got in my eyes and dried out my contacts which made it hard to see - not a good combo. I felt so bad for my partner Derek. Hew is so lovely and patient! I was trying so heard not to drench him, but it still happened. The car to be fair is quite lurchy.

Below are some photos and a video of my take on the episode. Let me know what you think.

Weekly Astrology Forecast Nov.06 - 13 Intensity Gives Way to Optimism

This week we have a quarter moon on Monday Nov.06. Quarter moons are a time of inner conflict and motivation. The intentions we set at the new moon are being tested, to see if we will follow through and take actions on our goals.

Sun in Scorpio - The Magician, from the Symbolon

Monday Nov.07 2016 - Quarter Moon in Aquarius
Quarter moons occur when the Moon is squared to the Sun. The Sun is in Scorpio, a sign of emotional intensity, and has many focused on power and/or spiritual growth. Some will focus on the positive while others will be focused on personal gain and advancement. Issues of karma, and subconscious fears may come to our conscious awareness at this time. We will be challenged on an internal level to examine how our desire for spiritual growth can help others and be beneficial to the world and humanity at large. If we are in a position of power how will we use this for the greater good, or will we be self serving? These issues come to a head today, not surprisingly the day before the US election. How those in power will affect the masses, is very much the question for those voting on Tuesday.

Monday Nov.07, 2106 - Sun in Scorpio Sextile Pluto in Capricorn
This aspect makes those in power more attractive, and intensifies the opportunity to change the structure of governments and how things are organized. This could make for an intense day in the US, the last day of the election campaign. On a personal level, if you want to revamp your daily routine or impress your boss, this is a good day to do it.

Wednesday Nov.09, 2016 - Mars moves into Aquarius
Mars moves into altruistic and imaginative Aquarius today. We are driven to do things differently, to try new and unusual things. We are motivated to express our uniqueness, to be inventive, and approach problems in a different way then before. this is a good time for those interested in the sciences and technology to work on long term projects. If you are thinking of getting a new computer, or other technological items, now is the time to do it. People will also be more motivated to do things that benefit humanity as a whole, and community activism will be quite strong at this time.

Friday Nov.11, 2016 - Venus moves into Capricorn
Venus moves into hard working Capricorn on Friday. This is a time to get serious about our finances and business. If you have a creative and artistic idea, it's time to bring it into form, as this is a hard working sign. We will want to work now and play later. So use this energy over the next month to get some art or writing, etc done! In romance people will use their heads to make decisions, rather than their hearts.

Saturday Nov.12, 2016 - Mercury moves into Sagittarius
Mercury changes signs on Saturday, to go into fun loving Sagittarius. We will be interested in learning a wide variety of subjects, but lack precision and focus. We will also be more optimistic in our communications, and share more laughter and fun. Our faith in humanity and the goodness of the world increases and we are better able to persuade others. Its a good time to plan and adventure or travel abroad.

Below is my weekly video with a reading for each sign for the week. This month I'm using the Byzantine Tarot by John Matthews for my readings.

Weekly Update and Second Episode of Canada's Worst Driver

My Halloween was pretty quiet this year. I didn't put up a tone of decorations this year, or even dress up. I feel like in some ways it sneaked up on me a bit. With my sister in law's sudden passing this month. Halloween understandably took a backseat . I still wanted to honour the holiday though. I handed out candy and did a little ritual to mark the day, but other than that, didn't do much.
I'm determined though to enjoy the upcoming yuletide season. Christmas time is my favourite time of year. i love the lights, food, decorations, gifts, carols etc. Bring it on! I already started my shopping this week, and am aiming to be done for the first week of December.

This week I made a couple of videos. The first is a video is of my October favourites - decks, books and crystals. And the second video is a haul from Good Goth.com which is at least somewhat Halloweeny.

I also made a video about my experiences on Canada's Worst Driver episode 2. Below are some photos from the filming of the second episode. Let me know if you have any questions.

Weekly Update and First Episode of Canada's Worst Driver 12

I'm back after a bit of a lull in blogging. The week before I came down with a terrible cold. The kind where you just continually blow your nose over and over until it is raw.Yuck! and I was so tired, too. So not a lot got done - I just rested.

Then late last week we received the sad news that my sister in law had very suddenly passed away due to an accident at home. I am still shocked as I just saw her at Thanksgiving. She was a strong and spirited woman who loved animals and helping those with disabilities. We are all missing her terribly and I think it will take a while for what happened to really sink in. If I can take anything from it, its to enjoy the moment, as each day is a gift. You just never know how long you have, and to appreciate all the wonderful people in your life.

On a happier note, this week, the first episode of Canada's Worst Driver aired. I was so nervous because I thought I would look really weepy, and stupid, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I remember. Its funny how in one's mind thing appear so much bigger than from the outside. I remember being really teary during the drive around my hometown and cried a lot after the assessment challenge, but they didn't show much of it, thankfully. Below are some photos from the first episode and a video of me talking in more detail about the first episode. I also received a package from the show, which you can see me unbox.

Thanks to everyone for their condolences during this difficult time, and to everyone who has been so encouraging and suppportive during my driving journey. It means a lot that so many people have reached out, I appreciate it so much.

Next week is episode 2, and I'll do another update video and blog update.

My Trip to Victoria, British Columbia

Thanks for your patience dear readers, as I've been away from blogging for a few weeks. Part of that was because I went to visit my bestie Rheina, on Vancouver Island at the end of September. She moved away just over a year ago and I've been missing her sorely. Facebook and talking on the phone are great but it doesn't compare to a face to face visit.

I thought I'd share with you some of the places I visited while I was there. My friend is fairly private, so no pictures with her in them, but needless to say I had a lovely time hanging out with her and her family and appreciate them showing around the lovely part of the world they now call home.

View along the highway to Sooke BC

One of the places we visited was a Victorian mansion called Craigdarroch Castle. It was built in 1890 by a Scottish coal baron for his family, and is now a museum. If you are in Victoria , and like Victorian history, I would highly recommend it. It has four floors and 30 some rooms, almost all of which have been beautifully restored. It really gives you a feel for life of the upper class at the turn of the last century. As a side note, it is supposed to be haunted too.

Stained Glass in the Drawing Room

After walking around the amazing mansion, we decided to go to a local cafe that is very popular. It serves some excellent eggs Benedict (or so I have heard as I don't like eggs), and I had a delicious veggie burger. The Blue Fox cafe is a quirky, fun cafe in downtown Victoria that I would recommend if you want something local, delicious, and you like an artsy atmosphere.

Another great place we visited that is kind of a must, when in Victoria, is the Butchart Gardens. It is pretty pricey, but definitely worth doing at least once. I met my lovely friend Ray, from art school, at the gardens. It was great to see him again and stroll around. If you like formal gardens, or are into Victorian things, you will enjoy the gardens. It started as the private garden for the Butchart family at the turn of the century, expanded from there and is still a family owned and run business. There are several different themed gardens including a Japanese garden, a rose garden, an Italian garden etc. The most beautiful garden for me was the sunken garden made from a quarry. It reminded me of Quarry Park in Shrewsbury UK.

The Sunken Garden

Ray in the Rose Garden

One day we went to the beach, so I could see the Pacific Ocean. I've seen the Atlantic and Caribbean ocean, but never the Pacific. We went to beautiful place called French Beach. Even though the water was cold I still manged to put a foot in the water and ended up getting my shoes wet by accident, but it didn't matter, it is all part of the fun.

French Beach

It was a lovely trip, as it was so nice to hang out with my bestie and get away to see another part of the world. I know this will be an annual trip, and am looking forward already to returning next year.

Weekly Update - Kipper Cards and Chakras

This week I filmed my first impressions of the Fin de Si├Ęcle Kipper cards you Ciro Marchetti. I am contemplating doing an October Kipper Challrnge called Octkipper. I'm new to Lipper cards and thought it might be a good way we could all learn the cards together.

I also got caught up with weekly YouTube Pagan challenge. Below are my thoughts on Ley lines, chakras and the symbolism of light.

I hope you join me in October learning Kipper cards!

My Thoughts on Fairies

Last weekend I attended a mini workshop about fairies at a metaphysical centre called Divine Clarity. I already work with and honour the fairy folk in my spiritual practice, but was interested to see what someone else's take was. While I didn't learn anything particularly new, it was nice to talk about the subject with others of like mind and take in another perspective. Below is a quick overview of a little bit my take on the wee folk.

Fairies
Fairies is a both a broad term and a specific term. Broadly it refers to naturee spirits who watch over plants, the earth, water bodies, mountains and wild places. Much like spirit guides and angels watch over animals and humans, fairies watch over the plant and earth realm. These nature spirits are called different things by various cultures. Countries with a Celtic background refer to them as fairies, while those with a Germanic background use terms like elves or dwarves and gnomes, in Japan they are yokai and in Spain duende. Every culture has stories of these nature spirits, just with different names and tales specific to their area.

Specifically fairies are a term for what is often seen as small winged spirits connected to plants. Everything from flowers, herbs and bushes - they watch over plants of all kinds. They prefer wild places, but will hang around gardens too. They especially love gardens that have a bit of a wildness to them and are not overly manicured.
My mother grew up in England where she was often told to watch for the fairies at the bottom of the garden. Fairies are not necessarily the benign creatures of Victorian lore. Just like people some are nicer than others. Some are helpful, and some have less good intentions. Many are mischievous and like to misplace things on people. It is important to remember that they are plant spirits, so their agendas are different from ours.
Specifically fairies can be divided into the Seelie and Unseelie court. The Seekie court is connected more to flowers, herbs and gardens and they are mischievous but generally benign  to people. The Unseelie court is connected to forests, bogs and swamps and can be malevolent towards people. It is understandable that they would not want people disturbing their homes. We have had a history of disturbing and destroying those places, so it can be understood why they are unhappy with us.
There are also trooping and solitary fairies. Trooping fairies are groups of fairies who wander about the countryside and sometimes form settlements. People sometimes have sighted them dancing or walking in groups. There are also solitary fairies who live on their own and are not connected to a group.

Pixies
Pixies are small childlike fairies, usually without wings, often wearing green and with pointy ears. Pixies are known for being mischievous troublemakers. They are particularly associated with the areas of Cornwall and Devon. They watch over the moorlands, barroes and stone circles. They apparently do not get on well with other fairies.

Sprites
Sprites are elemental spirits associated with air, fire and water. They are often seen as small wispy beings of light. They have a wispy translucent nature to them. They are associated with open meadows and small bodies of water.

Weekly Astro Report - Lunar Eclipse in Pisces

This week's main astrological event is the lunar eclipse in Pisces on Friday Sept.16. This is the end of eclipse season which started back in March. Any changes you have started to make this spring, will start to manifest their results as we move towards the end of this season.
We also have a couple of aspects with Uranus this weekend which can lead to unusual and unexpected events in our love life.
And of course we are still in a Mercury retrograde. Make for extra time when traveling, expect delays and double check any fine print.

Lunar Eclipse in Pisces - Sept.16, 2016
A lunar eclipse is a time of change and for reassessing relationships and our emotional state. Projects started at the solar eclipse on Sept.1 will start to show results now.
This lunar eclipse, the moon is in the dreamy sign of Pisces. We will be affected by others emotions and willing to compromise. We may be too sensitive though and take on others feelings and concerns as our own. Be careful not to abuse alcohol or drugs in an attempt to shut off the sensitivity as this will only make things worse. There is also the danger that mental illnesses may become more active at this time.
It is a good time for those in the public eye, as they can better tap into the public mindset and emotions now. It can be used though to manipulate people.
Those with their sun or moon sign in Pisces or Cancer will be most affected by the lunar eclipse.

Sun in Virgo Conjunct Mercury in Virgo - Sept.12, 2016
Sun and Mercury join forces on Monday to help us get organized. We are more focused and want to get our routine and health regimes in order. Mercury in Virgo makes us more cautious and enables us to think things through. The sun in Virgo puts the emphasis on our health and routines. If you are thinking about starting a new diet or exercise routine. This is a great day to do it.
This is also a great day for business deals and contract negotiations. As we are in a Mercury retrograde, make sure to look at the fine print.
Those whose Sun sign is in Virgo, Gemini or Leo will be most affected by this.

Sun in Virgo square Mars in Sagittarius - Sept.13, 2016
The Sun forms a challenging aspect with Mars on Tuesday. We may get into conflicts with those in authority, particularly males. Don't try to force your will on others as it will only backfire. Others may try to impose their will on you as well. It's better to back down right now and try to compromise another day. This is also a day to be wary of accidents. It is better to counteract this energy by exercising if you feel agitated, rather than getting into arguments with others.
Those with their sun sign in Leo, Virgo, Aries and Sagittarius will be most affected by this.

Mercury in Virgo square Mars in Sagittarius - Sept.12, 2016.
This is not a good day for making sudden decisions. We may feel irritated and be trmpted to take it out on others, but this would be unwise. We are apt to act rashly and say things we don't mean. Avoid debating politics as it is likely to get heated.
Those with their sun sign in Virgo, Gemini, Aries or Sagittarius are most affected by this.

Venus in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries - Sept.18, 2016
Relationships that are on shaky ground may fall apart at this time. If there are serious tensions or conflicts in your relationship, a sudden event may put it to the test. Sudden breakups or separations may occur.
If your relationship is strong, there is no need to worry, just avoid any conflicts over petty things.
If you are looking for a new relationship, any that start at this time will be unusual and short lived.
Those with sun signs in Libra, Taurus, Aries or Aquarius will be most affected by this.

Mars in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Aries - Sept. 17, 2016
This is a great day to break routine and try something new or take a risk. You'll be surprised what unusual opportunities come up on this day. If you go with the flow synchronicities are more likely to appear now. If there a new exercise you want to try or you are starting an unusual business this is a great day to get things started.
Any romance that starts now will be unusual and passionate but not long lasting.

Below is the weekly card reading. Check out the weekly forecast for your sign.

Weekly Update - What I love about Autumn

This week, it felt good to get back into routine again. I was ill over the Labour Day long weekend, which was not fun, but it did force me to lie down and rest. I napped, read books and watched a James Bond marathon. I have to say my favourite are the Roger Moore years. I love ridiculous Bond movies complete with elaborate lairs for villains and epic ski and boat chases.

On Tuesday it was back to routine. The summer is over and the kids started back to school Wednesday. It's my favourite time of year again - autumn (and the Christmas season too). Below is a list of some of my favourite things about fall.

1. Back to school supplies
I'm not just talking about for the kids here. There's something about this time of year that makes me want to get new pens, journals and stationary supplies. Maybe it's years of schooling, but there's still a kid in me that loves a fresh new notebook and the sense of possibility it brings.

2. Pumpkin everything!
Yes it's cliche but I really do love pumpkin. I got my first pumpkin spice latte yesterday and it was a lovely treat. I look forward to pumpkin muffins, cookies, pies and other treats that this time of year brings. And not just the food, I love all the pumpkin scented candles, soaps and lotions too.

3. Fall leaves
There is only a little bit of colour right now, but that will change in the next few weeks. I love all the reds, oranges and yellows. It's nice  too the sound of the leaves under foot and the scent of them in the air. It doesn't last long, but it's beautiful for those few weeks of transition before we get into winter.

4. Fall clothing
I love putting on jackets and boots again. This year I got a new pleather jacket and new boots. Finding black knee high boots was a bit of a challenge as short booties are all the rage right now. I did manage to get a decent pair. I'm fussy about my boots. They have to be just right, I like a chunky heel, that's not too high, and the boot should not slouch or be too pointy in the toe. I wear them a lot so they have to be something I love.
Besides boots and jackets I love scarves and sweaters. It's so nice to be able to layer again.

5. Halloween themed items
This is a great time of year for the spooky inclined to pick up some darker themed clothes, and household items. Michaels has some great household things like candle holders, cups and pillows. You can even find things at regular mainstream stores with bats, ghosts, black cats etc on them. And don't forget stores like Spirit Halloween to really get into the spirit of things.

6. Thanksgiving
In Canada Thanksgiving is the second Monday of October (in the US it's the last Thursday of November). It's a great way to celebrate fall with a large turkey dinner, pumpkin pie and getting together with family and friends. It's a time to be thankful for the bounty of the earth and all the wonderful things in our lives.

7. Halloween
The next celebration of fall is my second favourite holiday (Christmas is my fave). I love the decorations, costumes and candy. It's fun seeing kids and adults get into the spirit of things. I love carving a pumpkin with the kids (well it's really me that does most of it), roasting pumpkin seeds and giving out treats to the trick or treaters. It's also a sacred day for me as a Wiccan. It's a time to remember our loved ones on the other side and is considered a spiritual new year for many witches.

8. Halloween candy
Okay, I had to make this its own category. One of the perks of handing out candy to the kids trick or treating is eating the left overs. You can get large boxes of mini chocolate bars which can be dangerous. It's so deceptive as they are so small it's easy to eat so many. I do love all the seasonal candy that comes out including the marshmallow ghosts pictured above.

9. Great television and movies
With Halloween coming, spooky shows increase on the tele. I'm a hugs fan of paranormal type shows so this is a great time of year for me. I'm not a big horror fan, but if you are, this is a great time of year for you too. There are favourite movies for me at this time of year, like The Craft, Practical Magic, Sleepy Hollow, and a Nightnare Before Christmas.

10. The days are getting darker
As we move into the darker half of the year, I love lighting candles and being cozy. While there are those who feel more down during this time, I am the opposite. I love having more of an evening again. There something cozy and comforting at this time. I love getting out the candles, making comfort food like chili and shepherds pie and curling up in blankets. I also feel more creative and focused during this time of year.

What are your favourite things about autumn?

Weekly Astro Report and Reading

I thought I would do a weekly update of the transits going on  the stars. For those of you unfamiliar with astrology, transits refer to whats going on with the planets in the sky right now and the aspects they are making to each other. These aspects are affecting everyone, to a greater or lesser affect. How much it affects you depends on your own personal chart.
Mercury in Virgo

 Mercury Retrograde in Virgo Aug.30 - Sept. 22, 2016
This week starts with us in squarely in a Mercury retrograde. This retrograde should not be as hard as most others, due to some positive aspects and qualities. The first is that Mercury is in its home sign of Virgo. Mercury rules transportation and communication, and in Virgo it takes on a more cautious tone. People are more careful to plan and organize things and take care of details. While Mercury retrogrades can be notorious for communication breakdowns, travel delays, and lost items, the Virgo tendencies toward caution can help lessen these effects.
When the retrograde started, Mercury was conjunct with Jupiter in Virgo and Venus in Libra. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and luck. In the sign of Virgo it encourages us to be patient. I think that this holds some of the key to getting through this retrograde, being patient and giving things plenty of time.
Venus in Libra can make us indecisive, but helps us in conjunct with Mercury to communicate our feelings, and to express ourselves artistically. We will be in a more compromising spirit, but may give in too much, if we are not careful.
Those of you with sun signs in Virgo, Libra, Taurus and Sagittarius will feel the effects of this retrograde more than others. Remember to be cautious, patient and comprimising and you should get through okay.

Sun in Virgo Trine Pluto in Capricorn Sept.07, 2016
The sun in Virgo, brings our health, nutrition and daily routines into focus. It forms a positive aspect to Pluto on this day, the planet of transformation. Pluto in Capricorn rules structures and work. This aspect brings us the opportunity to transform out daily routines, and our health and nutrition regimes. Pluto encourages us to research and make these changes slowly, to investigate things fully and not rush into things. As many kids are going back to school at this time, it is a perfect time to start a new healthy and organized routine for the school year.
Those of you with Sun signs in Virgo, Leo, Scorpio and Capricorn will be most affected by this transit.

Venus in Libra Sextile Saturn in Sagittarius Sept.07, 2016
Venus the planet of love and the arts forms a positive aspect with the planet of restrictions and organization. Venus in Libra leads us to be able to compromise with others, but can lead to indecision. It's a great time for weddings, and large social gatherings, and for forming a business partnership in the arts.
Saturn in Sagittarius is a good time for foreign investments and trips overseas. As it is forming a positive aspect with Venus, its a good time for taking a trip to see a loved one overseas, and for starting a romance with a serious long term intent.
Those with Sun signs in Taurus, Libra, Capricorn and Sagittarius will be most affected by this aspect.

Saturn in Sagittarius Square Neptune in Pisces Sept.10, 2016
This aspect has been a prominent one for the year, starting on Nov.26, 2015 and forming its last exact aspect on Sept.10, 2016. This is a very challenging aspect globally as it can lead to more natural disasters like floods and earthquakes. It cam also increase bombings and assassinations. This aspect leads to struggles with radical authoritarianism, religious extremism, and it affects on those most vulnerable. We have certainly seem these themes play out in 2016. Take heart as after this final aspect we should start to move out of these energies.
On a personal level, it can lead us to becoming more depressed and discouraged, and experience hardships at times.  Stay away from drugs and over drinking during these times as they will only lead you to feeling worse. Patience and finding ways to express yourself creatively are much more helpful.
Those with Sun signs in Capricorn, Sagittarius, and Pisces will be affected most strongly by this aspect.

Below is the weekly reading for each sign using the Raven's Prophecy Tarot. Let me know if you would like me to continue with the weekly horoscope reading and blog.

Weekly Update - I Blame the Stars

The past few weeks I've been working on a re-branding and relaunch of my website, Etsy store, and social media under the name Wild Intuitive. I spent two weeks working on a total redesign of the website alone. The plan was to launch everything on September 01. I thought the timing would be perfect with a new moon and even with Mercury in retrograde, after all it was a re-launch and re-branding. And "re" things are okay during a retrograde right? I was going to make a video announcing it and share my blog etc.

My now logo - the septagram
Life does not always go as planned though. I woke up on Thursday with a bad stomach bug. I lay in bed most that day and Friday and am still not feeling up to making a video. Sitting on the couch blogging is about as much as I can muster right now. Really as someone who studies astrology I should of known better. Retrogrades are notorious for delaying our best laid plans. It was also a solar eclipse. These are times of change, which I was hoping to harness to my advantage, but that change can be unpredictable.
I realized that I had become too attached to a date. While I wanted to launch everything on a particular date, does it really matter if I roll it out as I can? Probably not. I can make a video when I am feeling better, and post the blog later today. I have to practice what I preach - self care. My body, and clearly the Universe is telling me to slow down, so I will listen, and trust in Divine Timing. I don't always know what's best, even if I like to think that I do.
As things happen though, I did get a nice surprise yesterday, in the from of a delivery from UPS. I had pre-order a couple of decks months ago, and recently got a notice that they would be delivered soon. I was not expecting them for a couple of weeks though. So it was very nice to get a box delivered t the door. I thought it was just one deck, but it turned out to be both!

The first deck is the Fin de Siecle Kipper deck by Ciro Marchetti. I became interested in kipper decks after working with lenormand. It is like lenormand, but with more people in the deck. I'm looking forward to getting to know this style of deck and working with it. I was wondering about combining this with lenormand and seeing how that might work. Has anyone done this? I may have to do some research on the best way to do this.

The second deck is the Dreams of Gaia tarot by Ravynne Phelan. I have her Messenger oracle and adore her artwork. I was excited to hear she was coming out with a tarot deck so pre-ordered it as soon as I could. It is not like the traditional tarot system, I have to say. There are extra cards, so I will have to work with this deck to let you know what I think. I only just opened the box anyway, so its hard to form an opinion at this point.
One thing I do really like is the packaging. Other tarot publishers take note - this is how you package a deck! Blue Angel decks are always well packaged in a sturdy box for both the deck and guidebook, and this box is no exception. Its so nice to have both the deck and the guidebook all in one sturdy container. I don;t have to store them seperatly or find a box or pouch to put the deck in.
As soon as I am able to I will do a deck reveal video for each. I was going to do a deck unboxing, but I just couldn't wait to open them.

So while things didn't go as planned, it's not the end of the world and I did get a nice surprise yesterday. How has Mercury retrograde treated you so far?

New Look and New Blog

Welcome to my new blog! I decided to start a new blog as I have revamped my website and various social media sites under the name Wild Intuitive. I had changed the name earlier in the year to Wild Intuitive Teacher Creative Healer, an acronym for WITCH. I like the name but was finding it too long and cumbersome. I thought Wild Intuitive encapsulated the spirit I want to capture. Wild for the connection to nature and our true inner selves, and intuitive for following one's inner guidance and the magical side of life.
Its New Moon today too so I thought it would be the perfect time to bring in the new. Yes, I know it is Mercury retrograde, but that is the perfect time ofr reassessing and re-doing things.
With this new blog I am going to be focusing on various metaphysical subjects including tarot and astrology, with weekly readings and forecasts, posts on dreams, chakras, palmistry, the paranormal, faeries etc,. I'll also include updates of what I've been up to. I hope you enjoy the new blog and the new direction I'm taking. Please check out my new website Wild Intuitive and let me know what you think. I would love to hear your feedback.
